"Le opere e i giorni" Certosa di San Lorenzo, Padula (Sa) 2003

The installation belongs to the collection curated by Achille Bonito Oliva, permanently housed in the large monastic cells.
Specially created for this context and built on the spot, the work is essentially a large percussion instrument based on the sound of water drops that , with predetermined rhythm, They fall from the top of the five columns hitting the targets that are inside as many transparent tubes, obtaining a sound the louder the greater the distance between the top of the column, from which the drop starts, and the cylinder in which it falls and resonates.

When a cylinder lowers, the drop that hits it will increase its strength, therefore its sound volume. By setting with the configuration of the referrals the path of five independent drive chains the period of rise and fall of the cylinders, you create a set of complex and unrepeatable rhythms as it creates a continuous shift between the different units.

Nomos, study framework for the movements of cylinders.
