Lo scriba.

Set up on five lighthouses in five different countries overlooking the Mediterranean basin, sail-sensors bend beneath the thrust of the wind. All these movements, even the very slightest, travel in real time across the web, and reach the secluded arm of the “scriba”, which traces the mood of the air with its brush.

The lines can dart upwards, or suddenly relax, depending on whether a gale replaces the dead calm of Cyprus, or a fresh breeze blows continuously, for hours, in Gibraltar.

The complete plan previews that there are of the sensors applied to special oscillating sails dislocated in 5 points of the Mediterranean (Marseilles, Valencia, Palermo, Cyprus and Alexandria of Egypt).

Each movement of the air is translated by each sensor in a data file sent in real time through the network to the stylus that is more properly a brush as it reacts to pressure by increasing the thickness of the mark proportionally. It has 5 axes of movement (3 for the support arm and 2 for the joint of the stylus itself. Each of the five axes is assisted by a servo motor under a sensor.  The stroke of the stylus will therefore be a figure of interference between the wind stresses in the 5 points of the Mediterranean basin where the detection sails are placed.

Beyond a poetic tension that is established in the competition of 5 distant events in the space from which an enigmatic figure springs, there is a series of reflections that can be derived, since apparently random movements sampled in geographically distant areas actually belong to a single complex system of which the track certainly does not claim to be the scientific record, but a testimony.
